Top 10 Best-selling Trucks and SUVs in Canada, First Half of 2020

As we saw with the Top 10 best-selling cars in the first half of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a disaster for the auto industry. The 648,487 new light-duty vehicles sold across the country represent a massive drop of 34.1 percent from the same period in 2019.

That being said, it’s interesting to note that utility vehicles and especially pickup trucks have kept increasing their market shares. Together, these models now account for 78.6 percent of total sales, up from 73 percent a year ago.

Without further ado, here are the top 10 best-selling trucks and SUVs in Canada for the first half of 2020…

10. Hyundai Kona
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 9,408 units
A drop of 28.3 percent from the same period in 2019

9. Nissan Rogue
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 9,857 units
A drop of 49.3 percent from the same period in 2019

8. Ford Escape
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 10,209 units
A drop of 51.4 percent from the same period in 2019

7. Dodge Grand Caravan
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 12,308 units
A drop of 22.8 percent from the same period in 2019

6. Honda CR-V
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 17,661 units
A drop of 36 percent from the same period in 2019

5. Toyota RAV4
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 20,596 units
A drop of 35.5 percent from the same period in 2019

4. Chevrolet Silverado
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 23,549 units
A drop of 14.3 percent from the same period in 2019

3. GMC Sierra
Total sales during the first half of 2020: 24,692 units
A drop of 9.2 percent from the same period in 2019
