10. 2020 Nissan Pathfinder – starting at $36,498
The Nissan Pathfinder is a seven-passenger SUV that boasts a maximum towing capacity of 6,000 pounds—above average in its segment—and a 284-horsepower, 3.5-litre V6 engine, which also happens to be fuel-efficient. It’s an affordable choice, though styling is fairly outdated.

9. 2020 Chevrolet Traverse – starting at $36,198
The Chevrolet Traverse offers plenty of value. It’s one of the most spacious and family-friendly three-row midsize SUVs on the market, especially when it comes to the rear seats, while its 3.6-litre V6 engine delivers 310 horsepower. Base models have FWD, however. To get AWD, you need to spend an extra $3,000.

8. 2020 Kia Sorento 2020 w/ Third Row – starting at $36,095
The Kia Sorento is a midsize SUV offering a seven-passenger configuration with a standard 290-horsepower V6 and Dynamax AWD system. Watch out for the heavily revised 2021 Sorento going on sale by the end of this year, though a slight price bump is expected.

Offering seating for up to eight, the Toyota Sienna boasts an excellent 296-horsepower 3.5-litre V6. Watch out for the redesigned, hybrid-only 2021 Sienna going on sale this fall. Prices will be up, mind you.

6. 2020 Ford Transit Connect – starting at $33,055
Did you forget about that one? Available in cargo van and passenger van configurations (the latter offering seating for up to seven), the Ford Transit Connect is motivated by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 162 horsepower. 

5. 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan – starting at $32,295
Production of the Dodge Grand Caravan ended in August, but you can still purchase a 2020 model—with a big fat rebate from the manufacturer. By the way, the new 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan starts at $37,995.

4. 2020 Kia Sedona – starting at $31,995
Known for its comfortable, high-quality interior, the Kia Sedona minivan makes good use of a 3.3-litre V6 that produces 276 horsepower. It offers seating for seven or eight passengers. For 2020, several trim levels have been dropped, but pricing remains affordable.

3. 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan w/ Third Row – starting at $30,530
The Volkswagen Tiguan can accommodate five passengers or, optionally, seven people thanks to its available third-row seat, a rare feature in the compact SUV segment. As standard, you get a 184-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a FWD setup. AWD is optional.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a spacious and capable compact SUV with seating for up to seven and a maximum towing capacity of 1,588 kg thanks to the available V6. Watch out for the next-generation Outlander going on sale next spring as a 2022 model.

The Dodge Journey is still the least expensive seven-passenger vehicle on the market, but not for long since it won’t return in 2021. Customers are left with just two models and a four-cylinder engine rated at 172 horsepower, front-wheel drive and a four-speed automatic transmission.
