Top 10 Models That Were Last Redesigned A Long Time Ago

Published on April 1, 2021 in Top 10 by Guillaume Rivard

Some of the vehicles on the market right now have been around in their current shape and form for a really long time. Should you buy one or wait for a complete overhaul? That depends how much you want style and technology or just the best possible deal.

Here’s a top-10 list of models that were last redesigned a decade ago or longer.

Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger
The classy Chrysler 300 and the muscular Dodge Charger share the same platform. Both date back to 2011.

Dodge Challenger
Dodge’s coupe was resurrected in the late 2000s, and the same generation continues to be sold in 2021, though with a wicked dose of power.

Dodge Durango
The Durango adds a 710-horsepower SRT Hellcat model for 2021, plus updated styling, but the current generation was introduced… for 2011.

Lexus LX and GX
These two large SUVs from Lexus are elegant (if you don’t mind the giant spindle grille), but extremely old, too. The LX dates back to 2008 and the GX is just two years younger.

Mercedes-Benz SL
Last redesigned for 2011, the sleek SL is skipping the 2021 model year. A new generation is due for 2022.

Mitsubishi RVR
The RVR was refreshed last year, but it’s fundamentally still the same vehicle as in 2011. With small SUVs being so popular right now, why doesn’t Mitsubishi launch a new generation?

Nissan GT-R
Introduced back in 2008, the GT-R is Nissan’s flagship. The next one will likely be electrified, but when?

Ram 1500 Classic
Despite the introduction of a new generation for 2019, Ram continues to sell the old one as the Ram 1500 Classic… and it’s a big success, too.

Toyota Sequoia and 4Runner
The Sequoia and 4Runner are virtually unchanged since 2008 and 2009, respectively. They are extremely reliable and durable, though. A redesign is coming soon.

Toyota Tundra
The current Toyota Tundra dates back to 2007. Seriously. Think that will scare Detroit’s Big Three? That being said, we’re looking forward to a new generation for 2022, rumoured to offer a hybrid powertrain like new F-150.
