European Wagons We’d Love to Have In Canada

Published on May 14, 2021 in Galleries by Guillaume Rivard

We Canadians are blessed to have access to fantastic models such as the Audi A6 Allroad and RS 6 Avant, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo and Taycan Cross Turismo or the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain, but the sad truth is that wagons are no match for SUVs these days. Just ask Volvo.

We can always fantasize, right? Here is a photo gallery of sleek European wagons that we’d love to have on this side of the Atlantic…

Volkswagen Golf Alltrack
The eighth-gen Volkswagen Golf is only coming back to Canada in GTI and R trim. While that’s great for performance enthusiasts, we can only dream about the return of a Golf Sportwagen like the new Alltrack.

Volkswagen Arteon Shooting Brake
The German automaker has many wagon models, so let’s include this long-roof variant of the sleek Arteon.

SEAT Leon Sportstourer
Another member of Volkswagen AG, Spain’s SEAT catches our attention with the Leon and its magnificently sculpted Sportstourer variant. Yet another proof that wagons are hot.

Cupra Leon Sportstourer
Cupra is to SEAT what Polestar is to Volvo. Its own Leon Sportstourer model is a 245-horsepower plug-in hybrid with lots of character.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Wagon
Emulating its archenemy BMW, which dropped the 3 Series Touring a few years ago, Mercedes-Benz will not bring back the C-Class Wagon in Canada. That body style is currently not available in the U.S., so a decision was made to offer the same lineup across North America. Bummer.

Genesis G70 Shooting Brake
Based on the freshly updated 2022 G70 sedan, this upcoming wagon model offers 40 percent more cargo room in an equally attractive package.

BMW 5 Series Touring
BMW has yet to unveil the first-ever M3 Touring, but it’s coming. Not in Canada, of course. Same thing for this 5 Series Touring.

Ford Focus Active Wagon
Just as it disappeared from North America, the Ford Focus was totally redesigned in Europe. Two wagon variants are available there including the ST Sport Wagon and this versatile Active Wagon.

Peugeot 508 SW
As it turns out, Peugeot won’t come back to North America. And even if it did, do you seriously believe we’d get the superb 508 SW?

Skoda Superb Scout
Skoda, the Czech car company owned by Volkswagen, offers a cute, adventure-oriented wagon in the mould of the Audi A4 Allroad.
