Montreal Canadiens and Their Automotive Alter Egos

Published on June 25, 2021 in Galleries by The Car Guide

The Montreal Canadiens will take part in their first Stanley Cup finals since they won it all in 1993. The team at The Car Guide obviously shares the excitement of hundreds of thousands of fans across Quebec and beyond.

Inspired by their amazing playoff run, we started to search for the automotive alter ego of many of the key players. Check out the photo gallery above and see if you agree with our picks.

Carey Price – Ford Super Duty
Is he the best goalkeeper? Is it the best truck? The debate will never stop. Either one can put an entire team on its back—the latter can tow up to 37,000 pounds—and rule the lane or the net like few others can.

Jeff Petry – Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye
The powerful defenceman’s bloodshot eyes from earlier in the Stanley Cup finals went viral. Is there a more aptly named automotive alter ego than Dodge’s wicked muscle car?

Shea Weber – Ford F-150
The No. 1 defenceman and team captain, a man among men who has been a part of many rodeos and spends a lot of time on the ice – kind of like the F-150’s presence on the road.

Josh Anderson – Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat
A hard-hitting power forward who goes to the net like a cannonball, Anderson reminds us of Dodge’s big 710-horsepower SUV, which can hit 100 km/h in just over 3.5 seconds.

Phillip Danault – Toyota RAV4
The centre who anchors the Habs’ first line is versatile, dependable (particularly on face-offs) and popular among local fans—three attributes shared by the RAV4.

Cole Caufield – Tesla Model 3 Performance
Caufield is a pocket rocket with lightning-quick acceleration, great agility and a knack for scoring. The Model 3 Performance is a compact electric sedan with 0-100 km/h sprints in just 3.3 seconds.

Brendan Gallagher – Subaru WRX STI
A feisty little dynamo who always finds a way to go after the puck and get in the face of opponents, Gallagher has many similarities with Subaru’s compact sports car, in our opinion.

Corey Perry – Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon
Old-timer Perry found a new wind with the Canadiens, especially in the playoffs. His solid presence on the ice, his motor that seemingly never stops, and his recent nose job (to repair a big gash caused by a high stick) are reminiscent of GM’s full-size SUVs, which were redesigned for 2021 and prove quite impressive.

Tyler Toffoli – Kia Seltos
A new addition to the Canadiens, the multi-skilled Toffoli wasted no time making his mark, leading the team in goals and points during the regular season. It’s exactly like the Seltos, Kia’s new star and best-seller.

Eric Staal – Toyota 4Runner
Retirement can wait for Staal and the 4Runner alike. These battle-tested soldiers can still deliver when called upon.
