10 Engines Known for Excessive Oil Consumption

Modern cars and trucks are way more sophisticated, more efficient and cleaner than their predecessors. Blue exhaust smoke is basically a thing of the past, and so few people make a point of checking the engine oil level on a regular basis.

Yet excessive oil consumption remains an issue with some late-model vehicles. Sifting through its reliability surveys and records, Consumer Reports has identified 12 engines from the 2010-2019 model years that are particularly problematic. You’ll find the worst in this top 10.
