The wheels of the auto industry turned slowly in 2021. But despite the many obstacles, several promising models have made their way to the road. There are dozens and dozens of them, some currently available, others are still on their way. 

Here is the Top 10 most significant new models of 2021.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Ioniq 5 is an important new model for Hyundai, but also for the world of electric cars in general. It's the automaker's first vehicle to built on the E-GMP platform, and it offers up to 488 kilometers of range.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer

The Grand Wagoneer is the new truck created by Jeep to take on the Cadillac Escalade in the "large luxury" market. With its daring styling, numerous gadgets and three rows of seats, it represents big American opulence… at a big price!

GMC Hummer EV

The GMC Hummer EV is certainly one of the most anticipated arrivals for electric vehicle enthusiasts, but also for those who love big trucks. The Hummer EV can travel over 560 kilometers on a full charge, and its powertrain can develop up to 1,000 horsepower.

Kia EV6

The Kia EV6 is also a newcomer to the electric vehicle world, and its unveiling has drawn a lot of attention in 2021. It shares its platform with Hyundai's Ioniq 5, and can travel up to 480 kilometers on a full charge. The first examples will arrive in Canada in the spring.

Ford Bronco

The Ford Bronco experienced some assembly issues early on this year, but that hasn't slowed its popularity. In direct competition with the Jeep Wrangler, the new Bronco proudly pays tribute to its ancestor - and it comes with a manual transmission!

The Ford Maverick is the Blue Oval's contribution to the mini-pickup segment, and it is already breaking new ground by offering the first hybrid option in this niche. Buyers can choose between a 191-horsepower hybrid 4-cylinder engine, or the 2.0-litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder that deploys 250 horsepower.

Rivian R1T/R1S

The Rivian brand has attracted a lot of attention in 2021. However, this new American automaker has finally put its products on the road and will be able to reap the benefits in a segment where its rivals have yet to deliver the goods. With over 600 kilometres of range available on a single charge, Rivian trucks combine efficiency and singularity.

Ford Mustang Mach E

The Ford Mustang Mach E is also worthy of mention this year. With a range of up to approximately 500 kilometres, this SUV is available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, while offering up to 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque.
