Top 10 Highlights From 2022 New York Auto Show

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York Auto Show is back for 2022. The Car Guide was on hand during Media Day, and as you’ll see in this gallery there were plenty of big reveals—literally.

Check out the top 10 new models that caught our attention.

Deus Vayanne

Deus Automobiles is an Austrian automaker you’ve probably never heard of. In New York, the all-electric Vayanne concept debuted with the promise of than 2,200 horsepower and 1,475 pound-feet of torque. In terms of performance, Deus claims a top speed of more than 400 km/h and 0-100 km/h acceleration delivered in under two seconds.

Genesis X Speedium Coupe

Genesis premiered the X Speedium Coupe concept at Genesis House, a cultural space located in the heart of New York City’s Meatpacking District. This stunning model incorporates Genesis’ DNA while looking ahead to the next wave of EVs, highlighting Genesis’ future as a true luxury electric vehicle brand.

2023 Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica

Lamborghini showed a new Huracán model called Tecnica, which slots between the EVO and STO. With a 631-horsepower V10 engine, the new Huracán Tecnica can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L

Jeep is going to great lengths—and super sizes—to please SUV customers. The 2023 Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L are both 12 inches longer overall than the regular models including an extra 7 inches of wheelbase. They also feature the brand new twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine Stellantis recently unveiled, with 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque in the case of the Grand Wagoneer L.

2023 Hyundai Palisade 

The three-row Hyundai Palisade was released three years ago and it didn’t take long for Hyundai to start tweaking it. Debuting at the New York Auto Show was the latest iteration of this midsize SUV which now has different exterior styling, interior enhancements as well as new technologies to keep it up to date.

2023 Kia Telluride

The Kia Telluride receives a mid-cycle update for 2023, just like the Hyundai Palisade. New LED headlights combine with a revised front grille for a fresh look. Inside, a single, ultra-wide interface combining a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays emulates the cockpit in the EV6 electric crossover. Pricing will be announced later.

2023 Kia Niro

The completely redesigned Kia Niro made its North American debut at the 2022 New York Auto Show, once again with three different configurations including hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric (EV). Sharp styling is the biggest change for 2023, while the powertrain options are mostly carried over. The Niro EV now boasts maximum range of 407 km instead of 385 km.

2023 Subaru Outback

Subaru debuted the refreshed and improved 2023 Outback at the New York Auto Show. All models except the recently launched Wilderness sport a bold new front end with a larger grille, redesigned LED headlights and fog lights, plus extra body cladding. A new, darker-looking Onyx trim is added to the lineup. There's also more safety tech. The 2023 Subaru Outback will go on sale in the coming months. Prices have yet to be announced, but it’s safe to expect minor hikes.

2023 Toyota GR Corolla

Following its world premiere earlier this month, the Toyota GR Corolla made its first appearance in North America at the New York Auto Show. This 300-horsepower hot hatch with AWD and a six-speed manual gearbox is going to great lengths in order to please performance enthusiasts and once again shut up people who still believe that Toyota can’t make exciting, fun-to-drive cars.

Chrysler Airflow Graphite

Chrysler introduced the handsome Airflow concept at CES in Las Vegas back in January. Four months later, here's a different take in a new Graphite colour.
