Top 10 Least Reliable 2023 Models According to Consumer Reports

Published on November 24, 2022 in News by The Car Guide

Which brands and models should new-car shoppers stay away from in 2023? We certainly have a few names in mind, but you can also check out what Consumer Reports has to say.

The reputable magazine has just published its latest annual auto reliability rankings, which reflect predicted reliability based on comprehensive vehicle testing and owner surveys that address 17 trouble areas, including engine, transmission, in-car electronics and more. A score is calculated on a 0-to-100-point scale.

For 2023, Mercedes-Benz (26), Jeep (30), Volkswagen (31), GMC (36), Chevrolet (40), Tesla (40), Ford (41), Cadillac (42), Ram (42) and Nissan (44) make up the top 10 brands. However, Consumer Reports has insufficient data or the manufacturer has too few models for them to rank Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, MINI, Mitsubishi, Polestar, Porsche and Rivian.

With so many absentees, are these reliability rankings even reliable? That’s debatable. For sure, they can alert potential customers before they make their decision. After all, buying a new vehicle is a major investment, especially with today’s rising prices.
