These Vehicles Are Not Coming Back in Canada for 2023

Every year a number of new vehicles hit the end of the road. As we turn to 2023, let’s take a look at all the models that are not coming back, at least in Canada.

Unsurprisingly, there are many cars on the list. However, you’ll also find a few small SUVs—and a big one.

Acura ILX

The ILX compact sedan is being replaced by the all-new 2023 Acura Integra, a sportier offering with similar power.

Acura NSX

The second-generation NSX bowed out with a Type S model limited at 350 units. Acura says it will be back. Chances are the next NSX will be fully electric.

Buick Encore

The Buick Encore is taking a one-year break. Look for a brand new 2024 model similar to the Chevrolet Trax.

Chevrolet Trax

Eclipsed by the new Trailblazer, the smaller Trax is not returning for 2023. However, a completely redesigned, second-generation model with FWD only is coming for 2024.

Chevrolet Spark

Canada’s cheapest car ended production last August. Chevrolet prefers to move forward with small crossovers like the Trailblazer and future Trax.

Ford EcoSport

Production of the Ford EcoSport ended months ago. This small SUV never really stood out among competitors. Ford’s new entry-level vehicle is now a pickup—the Maverick.

Ford GT

The third-generation Ford GT completed its six-year production run with a bunch of special editions, although a track-only GT Mk IV has been announced as a 2023 model.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

The most powerful Mustang has quietly bowed out for 2023. The seventh generation of the pony car is coming for 2024 with only EcoBoost and GT models. We’ll miss the Shelby GT500’s 760 horsepower.

Hyundai IONIQ

The fully electric variant of the IONIQ was the first to disappear in order to make room for the all-new IONIQ 5 crossover. The hybrid and plug-in hybrid models have now gone the way of the dodo, as well.

Hyundai Veloster N

All that remained of the Veloster was the high-performance N model, which Hyundai decided to kill for 2023 in order to focus on the Elantra N and Kona N. Both have the same 275-horsepower turbo engine.

Infiniti Q60

While the Q50 sedan sticks around, the Q60 coupe has been eliminated. You can find its twin-turbo V6 in the new, 400-horsepower Nissan Z.

Lamborghini Aventador

The very last, pure, naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini rolled off the assembly line back in September 2022. The milestone model was an Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roadster. A hybrid successor is expected to be revealed soon.

Lexus RX L

The fifth-gen Lexus RX being introduced for 2023 not only drops the V6 but also the three-row RX L variant. The latter is expected to be replaced by a model called TX for 2024.

Mazda CX-3

The Mazda CX-3 left the U.S. market after 2021 and will do the same with Canada after 2022. If you want a cheap Mazda with available AWD, consider the Mazda3 Sport or CX-30.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Mercedes-Benz will no longer offer the A-Class Sedan and Hatchback in Canada. The new entry-level car will become the CLA, but even that one faces an uncertain future. The company is also banking on customers to turn to crossovers like the GLA and the new GLB instead.

MINI Clubman

MINI’s 2023 models have arrived, but there’s one omission: the MINI Clubman. You know, the one with barn doors instead of a conventional rear liftgate. The company has decided to axe the quirky compact as the lineup continues to evolve.

Ram ProMaster City

Small commercial vans are going extinct. Ram has killed the ProMaster City. Next year, the Ford Transit Connect and Mercedes-Benz Metris will die, too.

Subaru Impreza Sedan

Along with the Crosstrek and Forester, the Impreza is another Subaru model nearing the end of its current cycle. If you happen to consider a 2023 Impreza, we must warn you that the four-door sedan is no longer offered on this side of the border. It does remain available in the U.S.

Toyota C-HR

Despite posting some decent sales numbers in Canada (but not really in the U.S.), the C-HR is not returning for the 2023 model year as the automaker prefers to focus on the Corolla Cross, which is now available with a hybrid powertrain in case you forgot. Obviously, these two vehicles couldn’t be more different in terms of styling.

Volkswagen Passat

As announced a long time ago, Volkswagen’s venerable Passat will not return for 2023. In fact, the 2022 model was available through fleet sales only.
