These 9 Car Brands Don’t Have a Single EV Yet

1. Alfa Romeo

Best Case for Electrification: The Alfa Romeo Tonale is a compact SUV available in a plug-in hybrid variant with around 50 km of range.

The brand plans to become all-electric by 2027. A first EV is due by the end of 2024, with a hybrid option also available. Pictured above is the upcoming Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercar, with both gas and electric variants.

2. Buick

Best Case for Electrification: GM’s entry-level luxury brand does have a few EVs… in China. In North America, however, we have yet to see one. The closest thing was last year’s Wildcat EV concept. An unrelated production model is expected to debut in the next few months.

Pictured above is another concept, the Buick Electra-X.

3. Chrysler

Best Case for Electrification: The Airflow concept pictured above has popped up a several auto shows, but a production model—or something else entirely with a different name and design—won’t be ready until 2025.

The Chrysler brand plans to sell nothing but EVs starting in 2028.

4. Dodge

Best Case for Electrification: The Dodge Hornet, similar to the Alfa Romeo Tonale, is a compact SUV available in a plug-in hybrid variant with around 50 km of range.

An electric muscle car based on the fantastic Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept (pictured above) is due to hit the market in 2024 as a replacement for the Charger, Challenger or both.

5. Infiniti

Best Case for Electrification: Nissan’s luxury brand doesn’t even have a hybrid. It once showed a couple of EV concepts, but none have turned into actual products.

Pictured above is the Infiniti QX Inspiration.

6. Jeep

Best Case for Electrification: The Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are available in 4xe plug-in hybrid configuration. Other models will follow.

When it comes to full EVs, the Europe-only Avenger is Jeep’s first. In North America, we’ll get the much more interesting Recon instead (sometime in 2024), followed by the Wagoneer S. Both are pictured above.

7. Land Rover

Best Case for Electrification: Land Rover (or JLR or Range Rover, if you prefer) has a couple of plug-in hybrids, but no EV like sister company Jaguar’s I-PACE.

A fully electric Range Rover has been promised for 2024. More will follow.

Pictured above is the current, gas-powered Range Rover.

8. Lincoln

Best Case for Electrification: The midsize Aviator and compact Corsair both offer a plug-in hybrid variant called Grand Touring. None is particularly impressive.

Lincoln last year introduced a spectacular new concept called Star (pictured above) which sets the stage for three fully electric vehicles to launch by 2025 starting with an Aviator EV. A fourth will be added by the end of 2026.

9. Ram

Best Case for Electrification: None yet. At the 2023 New York Auto Show, the highly anticipated Ram 1500 REV made its official debut. A key part of Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 electrification plan, this new electric pickup will go head-to-head with the Ford F-150 LightningChevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV when it hits the market next year as a 2025 model.
