10 New Vehicle Debuts to Watch For in 2024

A new year has begun and once again automakers are preparing to introduce a number of new vehicles, some of which have already been teased or announced.

Starting this week, we’ll turn our attention to CES 2024 in Las Vegas, where Honda plans to show a new lineup of electric vehicles for global markets. VinFast will also be on hand to reveal the tiny VF 3.

Here are 10 new vehicle debuts to watch for in 2024…

Mazda CX-70

On January 30, Mazda will finally introduce the CX-70, a midsize SUV similar to the CX-90 but with two rows of seats instead of three. It will be available with a new turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine featuring M-Hybrid Boost mild hybrid technology, as well as a plug-in hybrid system.

Also in 2024, Mazda’s plan calls for the addition of a CX-50 Hybrid. Built at a joint Mazda-Toyota assembly plant in Alabama, it will borrow Toyota technology as Mazda executives have previously announced.

Dodge

Despite production of the Dodge Charger coming to an end at its Brampton, Ontario assembly plant, information about the future of the model and its cousin, the Challenger, has yet to be solidified. While the Daytona SRT Concept gave us a glimpse of things to come and let us believe that the vehicle would be a two-door, 100% electric BEV “muscle car”, Stellantis has yet to confirm anything regarding the official powertrain details, other than the fact that there will be multiple configurations and output levels.

Everything will become clear sometime in 2024.

Porsche Macan Electric

A decade after the original Macan first rolled off the line, the German automaker is about to launch a fully electric variant. This will be Porsche’s second vehicle not housing an internal combustion engine, joining the Taycan sedan.

Last fall, the company invited The Car Guide to ride shotgun in a pre-production model and get a taste of what performance will be like with this new EV. Don't miss our story.

Buick

Buick is the only GM brand that has not yet introduced an electric vehicle for the North American market. This should change in 2024. Expect an SUV built on the Ultium platform, hopefully with design cues inspired by the stunning Wildcat EV concept pictured above.

Jeep

New Jeep EVs based on the Wagoneer S and Recon concepts will debut and enter production in 2024 as a 2025 models. The latter will be similar to the legendary Wrangler, with the ability to open the top with one push of a button and remove the doors and glass for complete freedom.

Ram

Stellantis has promised to build a new midsize pickup in Belvidere, Illinois—formerly the home of the Jeep Cherokee. We need to assume the Ram 1500 will finally be getting a little brother.

Will it be the Ram Rampage or a completely different model? It’s still a mystery at this point. The former has more of a compact size and is primarily aimed at South America, but sources familiar with Stellantis’ product planning have told a few media outlets that the vehicle will also be sold in North America. On the other hand, former Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. has previously said that a midsize pickup concept was in the works. Time to find out what the deal is.

Range Rover Electric

JLR (formerly known as Jaguar Land Rover) claims the upcoming Range Rover Electric will be its most refined vehicle ever created. And the quietest, too, obviously. Look for the overall design to be pretty similar to that of the latest gas-powered Range Rover that hit the market in 2022.

Development continues with prototype testing in harsh weather conditions, from Sweden to Dubai, as engineers aim to deliver the same level of performance and off-road capability as any other Range Rover. In fact, JLR says the Range Rover Electric will eclipse other electric luxury SUVs when it comes to towing loads and clearing obstacles, including up to 850 mm of wading ability. Who said that water and electricity are a dangerous mix?

Nissan

The current generation of the Kicks dates back to 2018, and the next one is expected to show up this summer for the 2025 model year. People familiar with the matter have told Automotive News that production at the Aguascalientes assembly plant in Mexico will start in June. Deliveries will follow shortly after.

The next-generation Kicks is bound to play an even bigger role with the Qashqai set to exit the North American market, leaving a void to fill in Nissan’s lineup. Expect a slightly larger, taller and more powerful Kicks, with AWD as an option for the first time.

Toyota 4Runner

The oldest Toyota product in the lineup will follow the lead of the redesigned Tacoma, offering a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and possibly a hybrid variant. But how will it fit alongside the all-new Land Cruiser? That’s a good question.

While the new model is set to debut in 2024, sales might not start until early 2025.

Scout

Scout, a new member of the Volkswagen Group reviving a popular name from the 1960s and 1970s, is expected to reveal prototypes of its two future EVs around summer—an SUV and a pickup. Production won’t start until the second half of 2026, however.
