These 10 New Concepts and EVs from Auto China 2024 Sadly Will Stay There

Published on April 25, 2024 in New Models by Guillaume Rivard

Auto China 2024 a.k.a. the Beijing International Auto Show kicked off on Wednesday and some of the new models on display will be sold in Canada, including the updated 2025 BMW i4 and the Lamborghini Urus SE plug-in hybrid. What about the MINI Aceman? We’re still waiting for a confirmation.

Most others are concepts and vehicles aimed specifically at the Chinese market, although a few of them could definitely attract drivers over here. We’ve included ten in the photo gallery above. Take a look!

Audi Q6L e-tron

As the first Audi to be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), and a close cousin of the Porsche Macan EV sharing this architecture, the Q6 e-tron will launch in North America this summer, with deliveries scheduled for late 2024. In China, there will be a long-wheelbase variant, which is a popular configuration among drivers there.

Genesis G80 EV Magma

This concept based on the Electrified G80 (refreshed for 2025) sports a cool Acme Blue body colour that’s exclusive to China. It also signals the launch of the Magma performance program in that particular market, following the GV60 Magma that we saw in New York a few weeks ago.

Mazda Arata

Here’s an electric SUV concept that vaguely resembles the small CX-30. It was designed to meet the needs of Chinese drivers. No specs were provided, but you can bet this vehicle will do better than our MX-30.

Mazda EZ-6

The Mazda6 midsize sedan is no more, but the fully electric EZ-6 could be its replacement. Well, maybe not here, but a production model will launch in China later in 2024. It’s so sexy we almost want to lick it.

Nissan Era, Evo, Epoch and Epic

Nissan took Auto China 2024 by storm with four new concepts previewing an equal number of production vehicles to be launched in the Chinese market by 2026. From left to right: Era (plug-in hybrid SUV), Evo (plug-in hybrid sedan), Epoch (electric sedan) and Epic (electric SUV). Still prefer the Ariya?

Toyota bZ3C

The new bZ3C is a coupe-like crossover designed specifically for China, which is a real shame if you ask us. It’s far better looking than the bZ4X, don’t you think? In fact, we see more similarities with models like the Prius and Crown Signia. Technical details remain unspecified for now.

Toyota bZ3X

Another one from Toyota, the bZ3X is a sort of compact, minivan-style crossover. The Japanese automaker already has plenty of utility vehicles in North America, but other bZ models are inevitably coming our way. Which one will be next?
