Photos d’hier : Imperial, une marque oubliée
Quand on parle de marque de luxe américaine, vous pensez tout de suite à Cadillac, voire à Lincoln. Jamais à Imperial. Pourtant, pendant près de 20 ans, Chrysler à tenté de tenir tête à GM et Ford sur le terrain du prestige. Avec un certain succès au niveau de l’ingénierie et du style mais pas tellement du côté des résultats commerciaux.

Avant d'être marque séparée, Imperial était un nom accolé aux modèles les plus prestigieux de Chrysler entre 1926 et 1954. On voit ici un un cabriolet CG 1931.
Imperial devient une marque à part entière pour le millésime 1955. Ici, un modèle Newport.

L'Imperial a été une vedette du petit et du grand écran. D'abord dans la série télé The Green Hornet / Le frelon vert (qui n'a duré qu'une saison entre 1966 et 1967) puis dans son adaptation au cinéma en 2011 avec Seth Rogen. Il s'agit d'une Imperial Crown 1966 lourdement modifiée surnommée "Black Beauty".
