Saturn Aura

Have you ever owned a vehicle with a call for freedom? You park on a steep hill, and you come back to realize that it has run away to the bottom of the slope? If you own a 2007-2008 Saturn Aura equipped with the 4-speed automatic gearbox, that problem is caused by a faulty transmission cable.

If the cable breaks while you're driving, it’s not catastrophic; you won’t notice it as long as you keep going. However, as soon as you will try to shift to PARK, the shifter won’t go in, and the key will be stuck in the ignition. But the worst part of this problem is that if the cable decides to break while the car is parked on a hill, it may allow the vehicle to roll downhill…

GM has not announced a recall date, but as soon as the parts are available, they will notify owners, and replace the cable and bracket free of charge.

In the meantime, if you need to park on a slope, use the handbrake and turn the wheels toward the sidewalk!
